"Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur" is a public university to be established with funding from the Government of Bangladesh. In the cabinet meeting of the current government on January 12, 2021, the draft of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur Act, 2020 was approved. Subsequently, the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur" was established through Act No. 02 of 2022. Previously, the Act adopted by the National Parliament of Bangladesh received the assent of the Honorable President on April 13, 2022, corresponding to 30 Chaitra, 1428, and this Act was published in the Bangladesh Gazette (Extra Issue) on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, for public information. The Act enacted for the establishment of the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur" is recognized as Act No. 02 of 2022. Professor Dr. Kazi Saifuddin, from the Department of Psychology at Jagannath University, was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur (BSMRSTUPP)." According to the memorandum number 37.00.0000.076.11.002.22.161 dated September 18, 2022, issued by the Science and Technology University Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, he was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university and joined as Vice-Chancellor on September 20, 2022. He will serve as the Vice-Chancellor for the next four years. The "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur" was established in Pirojpur district with the aim of creating and expanding opportunities for higher education and research in modern knowledge acquisition, as well as contributing to the development of science and technology at the national level, while striving to align with and achieve parity with the advanced world in terms of professional skill development in science and technology education. Initially, the university's administrative and other related activities are being conducted from a rented three-story building in Pirojpur town. Simultaneously, a liaison office has been opened in Mirpur, Dhaka, to facilitate official communication. There is an expectation that the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur" will play a significant role in building a Smart Bangladesh and meeting the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
