Bangladesh Medical College (BMC) is the first private medical college in Bangladesh. It was stablished in 1986 by a group of dedicated people called the founder members who were imbued with the ideas of providing quality medical education, research and services to people of this country at reasonable cost.
The College and the Hospital are run by Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI) which is established in 1984 is a non-political and non-profitable organization. The founder members dreamt of establishing a Medical College and Hospital with the aim of imparting medical education and after a much talk and discussion, Bangladesh Medical College was established on 13 April 1986.
The objectives of the institute are:
1. To promote and provide studies in medical science leading to recognized graduate and postgraduate degrees.
2. To conduct research work on the diseases prevalent in the country
3. To conduct research on medical education with the aim of raising the standard of medical education in the country
4. To provide quality medical care and health services to people at reasonable cost
Bangladesh Medical College started functioning from 24 April 1986. The Dhaka University granted affiliation to the College on 10 May 1988. Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council has recognized the College. The first batch of students from the Colleqe appeared in the 1 st Professional MBBS Examination of the Dhaka University held in March 1990 after completing two years of prescribed course of studies. The College has been enlisted in the World Directory of Medical Schools effective from 1986 published by the World Health Organization which entitles the graduates of BMC recognition all over the world. Graduates of BMC are eligible for limited registration with the General Medical Council of United Kingdom. They are also eligible to take the United States Medical License Examination (USMLE). The college has a new 6 storied academic building with adequate parking facilities. Most of the departments are accommodated in spacious place. The Bangladesh Medical College & Hospital is a tertiary care referral medical facility and provides excellent training to students and junior doctors. The Hospital has 600 beds and is well equipped and provides quality health care to the peoples home and abroad at reasonable cost. The entire hospital staff is dedicated to excellence and service.

• Recognition by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM & DC) Recognition renewal up to 2017 -2018 and further affiliation is under process.
International Recognition

Internee Fee = 1,80,000 (One Lac eighty thousand Taka)
Tuition Fee = (10,000 X 60 months) = 6,00,000 (Six Lacs Taka)

Admission Process for Foreign Students
Seats are reserved for foreign students. Foreign students interested in admission to BMC must possess qualifications equivalent to SSC and HSC with total GPA of 7, but minimum GPA 3 in SSC and HSC equivalent examinations. Students who have passed '0' level with best 5 subjects and 'A' level with 3 subjects (Biology, Chemistry & Physics) with minimum 3.5 in Biology are eligible to apply. Students who have completed 12th grade in USA are also eligible to apply. All foreign studetns candidates must submit equivalence certificate from directorate General of Health Services, Govt. of Bangladesh and attested copy of foreign passport along with the application. Candidates selected for admission in all categories will have to submit two stamp size photographs for identity card and medical fitness report from designated doctors of BMC.
Physical Fitness:
Students selected for admission must submit physical fitness certificate from BMC authorized doctors
Free Studentship:
5% free studentships are awarded every year to desiring meritorious students who do not have the financial ability to pay the College fees. Admission will be according to national policy guidelines. Students who are admitted against free studentship quota will not be given any honorarium during internship period.
