BUP is one of the leading public universities established on June 5, 2008 with it’s motto "Excellence Through Knowledge".
Establishment of a university for the armed forces educational and training institutes was a long felt need. National security, war strategy, medical, engineering and technology related to higher studies are in high demand at present. To keep pace and to be at par with the fast developing world, the national higher studies, research enabling modern knowledge and creating scope for education and studies are the obligations to be fulfilled. In order to expand and integrate the existing educational and training institutes of the armed forces, they were needed to be brought under a single umbrella or authority. Thereby, the establishment of "Bangladesh University of Professionals," (BUP) took place in that process and came in to being as 31st public university of Bangladesh on 05 June 2008. BUP is a unique public university run by the armed forces with upholding the motto "EXCELLENCE THROUGH KNOWLEDGE". The youngest university is confident in furthering the knowledge in the field of national security, technology and modern science to achieve the desired human resources development of the country.

Centre for Higher Studies and Research (CHSR) is mainly responsible for conducting the programmes like MPhil & PhD. Besides running these programmes, the centre is involved in various research and project works. These research and project works are under taken by our researchers and project directors. With this motto, CHSR started its journey in the year 2011. The centre had its humble beginning under HEQEP. Faculty of General Study (Now Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences) was assigned with the responsibility of running the programmes initially. It continued till 2013. A separate office named Office of the Higher Studies and Research was established in the year 2013 to carry out the responsibility of running these programmes. Subsequently in the year 2015 (November) it turned into Centre named as CHSR. Presently a good number of professionals and academicians from diversified background are undergoing these programmes. CHSR is also directly involved in coordinating research works being carried out under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Chair which was established on 26 December 2017.

Faculty of Arts & Social Science (FASS)
Good research data management practices ensure efficient accessibility and retrieval of research data for reliable and timely verification of the research findings.
Research data management helps researchers validate research data and results as needed. Facilitates new innovation by other researchers who build on the knowledge contained within the dataset.
Research data generated by NUS staff or students are the properties of NUS and should generally be archived for a minimum period of 10 years to enable retrieval and verification by the university when necessary.
Faculty of Security & Strategic Studies (FSSS)
In line with the lifelong motto of AIUB ‘where leaders are created, FASS is devoted to produce accomplished, as well as skilled, learners who can meet the professional requirements of today’s local and global job market.
Be it an academic seminar or an in-house cricket tournament or a debate festival, students and teachers at FASS work hand in hand to make it a success.
