Brac University (BracU) established in 2001 is located in Dhaka Bangladesh. BracU follows a liberal arts approach to education which nurtures fresh ideas and gives new impetus to the field of tertiary education. It ensures a high quality of education and aims to meet the demands of contemporary times.
Building on BRAC's experience of seeking solutions to challenges posed by extreme poverty, BracU hopes to instill in its students a commitment to working towards national development and progress. The medium of instruction and examination at Brac University is English. BracU is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh.

What we Do: Roles and Responsibilities
The Proctors’ Office is an impartial and discrete institution within the University. The Proctor and its administration are trusted to ensure the safeguarding of the University. In summary, the Proctor’s office oversees the following responsibilities;
● Ensure all members of the University comply with existing University policies, statutes, and code of conduct through governance and administration,
● Investigate violation and breach of University policies and code of conduct both academic and non-academic,
● Ensure administration of the disciplinary management process,
● Address all grievances and complaints,
● Oversee disciplinary issues with regards to examinations and academic activities,
● Serve on a number of University bodies and committees,
● Oversee registration of student bodies and clubs.
The Proctor has general responsibility for students and staff safety and may work with the law enforcement authorities and other partners to ensure that our students and employees are safe and feel safe.
Our Current Activities:
We ensure all disciplinary actions are dealt with relevant and genuine evidence. Our area of duty includes both Academic and Non-academic matters. Upon obtaining, valid complaints will be processed through our designated departments for further investigation. We make sure every case is processed with integrity and in alignment with the University policies and guidelines.

Academic Matters:
Academic Conduct – Assures that each and every student is indemnified in an area free of academic dishonesty and plagiarism. Protect students from any sort of academic discrimination targeted towards them.
Student Complaints (Academic) – To give appropriate advice and support to the students and faculties wishing to make complaints about cheating, plagiarism, and misdemeanor.
Non-Academic Matters:
Student & Staff Conduct - Ensures that all students and staff can go about their activities and lives within the University environment without being subjected to inappropriate behavior by other students and members.
Student & Staff Complaints (Non-Academic) – Safeguards the students and staff regarding bullying, sexual harassment, ragging, threat, bribing, and serious criminal offenses.

Undergraduate:
Secondary School Certificate (SSC): minimum: GPA 3.0 out of 5.0 or 2nd division Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC): minimum: GPA 3.0 out of 5.0 or 2nd division or Ordinary Level (O-level): Minimum C grade Advance Level (A-level): Minimum C grade Medium of instruction is English (IELTS/TOFEL not mandatory)
Candidates for BSc in Electronic & Communication Engineering and Electrical & Electronic Engineering who had Physics and Mathematics but not Chemistry in HSC/A-level/Equivalent will have to take a remedial course on Chemistry in addition to the courses required for the program.
Candidates for BSc in Biotechnology and Microbiology should have minimum C grade in Biology and Chemistry in HSC/A-level/Equivalent. Candidates who did not have Mathematics in HSC/A-level/Equivalent must take a remedial course on Mathematics in addition to the courses required for the program.
Candidates who have qualified in HSC/A levels or recognized equivalent examination in current year or two previous years are eligible to apply.
“E” grades will not be considered.
Bachelor of Pharmacy:
Candidates must have a minimum aggregate GPA of 8.00 out of 10 (on a scale of 10), with no grade lower than 3.5 in SSC/O Level/Equivalent and HSC/A Level/Equivalent. In addition, they must achieve a minimum GPA of 4.00 in Chemistry and Biology in both examinations. They also need a minimum GPA of 3.5 in Mathematics and Physics in both examinations (on a scale of 5 in HSC or equivalent). For “O” Level and "A" Level candidates, they must have a B grade in Chemistry, Biology, and a minimum C grade in Mathematics and Physics.
Candidates having no Mathematics or failed in the subject at the HSC/”A” Level or recognized equivalent exam may be admitted, but they need to take an extra 3 (three) credits course on Mathematics relevant to the B.Pharm. curriculum.
Candidates must pass HSC/ "A" level or recognized equivalent examinations in the current year or the previous year. For example, the 2024 January session candidate must pass their HSC/ "A" level or recognized equivalent examination in 2022 or 2023.

❖ GED is not acceptable.
❖ Cases where HSC or equivalent is more than three years previous to date need to apply to the chair admissions committee for review. (please contact through admissions@bracu.ac.bd)
❖ Candidates completed schooling outside Bangladesh will have to submit verified/attested copies of previous academic documents from their Institute/Foreign Ministry (of the country that they studied in) and equivalence certificates from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.
Postgraduate:
Minimum Bachelor Degree (15 years of education) having at least 2nd Class/Division or CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0 or equivalent (from any government authorized university).
Minimum GPA of 2.5 or 2nd Class/Division in SSC/Equivalent and HSC/Equivalent separately (including additional subject).
Minimum GPA of 2.5 in O-Levels in five subjects and A-Levels in two subjects according to the scale (A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1). Only one E is acceptable.
Applicants with GED (General Educational Development) are not eligible to enroll.
Successfully passing written test conducted by the Institute to assess applicant’s English proficiency level.
The University provides Research Grant Proposal Application Form as a supportive environment in which researchers at every stage of their career can flourish. The University is dedicated to fostering research collaborations across the world with research institutions, research agencies, funding bodies, industrial and commercial partners, sponsors and benefactors. The research environment shall get a further boost when there will be close collaboration between the industry and academics. Already an MoU has been signed between the Computer Science and Engineering Department and Grameen Phone where such industry-academic collaboration will flourish. Academic staff and graduate students at Brac University are central to the University's research efforts, which span all areas of the globe and tackle issues of international significance. Research at the university has made an enormous impact on our fundamental understanding of the world and significant contribution to society’s needs, and our graduate students join our academic staff in tackling some of the major challenges facing the world today. Students on research degrees work closely with an academic supervisor focusing on a specific research project to produce a thesis that represents a significant and substantial piece of work. Students are assessed on the basis of this thesis and a viva voce (an oral examination).
