About University

Chattogram BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (CBUFT) was set up in 2022 under the Private Universities Act 2010 and is dedicated to developing human resources for Bangladesh's readymade garments, textile, and allied sectors. This university aims to be a center of academic excellence, an international hub of applied research, and a school of transformational leadership development.

Before being transformed into a full-fledged university, it had been functioning as Chattogram BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (CBIFT) since 2002, a leading university college specialized in the apparel sector of Bangladesh with a noble mission to produce locally skilled human resources for the 100% export oriented readymade garments (RMG) industrial units as well as those manufacturing for the domestic market.

CBUFT has state-of-the-art RMG textile laboratories, computer labs, a computer-aided design (CAD) lab, a product development lab, broadband internet facilities, and a modern library. CBUFT graduates, with their skills, training, and knowledge, would be able to build their chosen careers and contribute efficiently towards the overall development of Bangladesh's promising RMG sector. In turn, they will play an active role in the country's development. CBUFT students get benefits from high-quality teaching and learning combined with hands-on experiences in its established industrial facilities, as well as professional input into various courses through live research projects, industry placement, and other lectures and webinars delivered and presented by leading RMG and textile professionals and also internationally reputed scholars. CBUFT faculty members are familiar with theories and academic aspects and have extensive professional experience and practice. Highly qualified and experienced teachers can disseminate the knowledge to the students to extend horizons and open up new prospects and perspectives. CBUFT students actively participate nationally and internationally in shows and design competitive workshops, symposiums, and conferences.

CBUFT strives to produce knowledgeable, skilled, and excellent employable graduates and maintain excellence in all its activities, upholding high academic standards. Our graduates continue to enjoy the best success rate in gaining full employment. We occasionally arrange workshops, seminars, and training programs for our students and faculty members to increase their professional knowledge and outlook. Industry experts and faculty members of reputed universities are the resource persons of these programs. CBUFT is run by an eleven-member Trustee Board headed by its Founder Chairman, Mr. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, a renowned industrialist and philanthropist of Bangladesh.
