Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College (SSKMC) is a government medical college in Bangladesh, established in 2011.It is situated in Gopalganj. The college is affiliated with Dhaka University as a constituent college.
Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College was named after Sheikh Sayera Khatun, mother of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the “Father of the Nation” and grandmother of honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This college began with 50 students and few infrastructure facilities. The first step in its creation and expansion was the training of undergraduate students. Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College is situated in Goplaganj, the birthplace of Bangubandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, “Father of the Nation”. It is located in Nabinbag, close to 250 Bed General Hospital of Goplaganj. After beginning the journey in 15th December 2011, Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College establish a new era in the history of medical education in Gopalganj. This college began with 50 students, now 65 students get admitted per year. Professor MM Moinuddin Ahmed was the first Principal of this Institute. The college did not have any building of its own at the beginning; its academic and clinical activities were conducted in 250 Bed General Hospital Gopalganj. Since 2021, academic activities are conducted in 6 storied new academic building, and 10 storied Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College & Hospital (SSKMCH) is started on 08.02.2023 with OPD services. Indoor services will be inaugurated within a short distance. The hospital accommodates 500 beds with modern ICU, HDU and CCU facilities. Both the academic building and Hospitals bear excellent academic and clinical environment. Different facilities of this institution rendering services to almost 500 impatients every day. A beautiful mural of Sheikh Sayera Khatun has been built at the entrance of the campus. More than 300 students have completed MBBS course from this institution and they play a noble role in serving the society.
Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College & Hospital as new and large institutes are committed to provide modern medical education for the students and health care services for the community. The college runs MBBS course with 65 students per year, which will be double in near future as 500 bedded SSKMCH will run within a short period. Sheikh Sayera Khatun Medical College is supported by a team of dedicated faculty members and administrators who are committed to the success and well-being of our students. They serve as mentors, providing individual attention and guidance to ensure that our students reach their full potential. Administrators and faculty members are working closely according to the advice and guidance of higher authority to enrich the academic offerings including academic specialties, research opportunities and doctoral programs with the aim to achieve excellence to build the regional and global reputation of this college.
