Rangpur medical college is one of the oldest and largest government laid medical college in Bangladesh. It is situated in divisional city of Rangpur, which is a traditional age old town in northern part of Bangladesh, 330 kilometers away from Dhaka. The college is located on the east side of Rangpur cantonment and Dhaka-Rangpur highway passes with its main gate. After its journey on 18 th  March 1970, Rangpur medical college started a new breakthrough in the history of medical education and medical treatment in northern part of Bangladesh. The present college building was established on 1970. This medical college has produced many national as well as internationally well-known doctors and scientists who are working all over the world. This historical medical college also has important role on 1971 during our freedom fight. Many of the students joined the freedom fight and sacrificed their lives for the motherland. After the establishment on 1970, Rangpur Medical College is now consists of a new modernized auditorium, 03 male and 03 female hostels, one 10 storied post graduate student hostel and separate male and female intern hostels etc. with an area of ​​about 7,600 square meters. One Nursing Institute, one Institute of Nuclear Medicine and allied Sciences, one Morgue, Staff Quarters, Mosque, Shaheed Minar and a capacious playground are there in the campus. On 2020, a magnificent College gate and Bangabandhu Mural was set up in the college campus. Rangpur medical college has a modern library which is enriched with medical textbooks of different medical faculties. In the library there is a spectacular 'Mujib Gallery' which is ornamented with different books and photobiography on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Rangpur Medical College conducts MBBS, BDS courses under Rajshahi Medical University. HSC / A level or equivalent examination passed candidates are selected centrally through a single nationwide admission test every year conducted by Directorate General of Health Services. Students from foreign countries are also selected for admission in this college. Every year 230 students are admitted in MBBS and 50 students are admitted in BDS courses. Students from foreign countries are also admitted in this college every year distributed by Government. It has post graduate residency courses (MD and MS) in medicine, surgery, paediatrics and gynaecology under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). It also has M.Phil and Diploma courses on different subjects. Rangpur medical college is affiliated by Bangladesh college of physicians and surgeons (BCPS) for post graduate training of all faculties. Students of this college can pursue their post-graduation from this college on any subjects after completion of graduation. It has large and separate basic science building. From the beginning, the hospital was at the then Rangpur sadar hospital building until the establishment of 1000 bedded new hospital setting. The hospital now consists of about 1000 beds with a new extension building. During COVID 19 pandemic, 24×7 RT PCR lab, a new corona isolation center and a gynecology corona unit was established for dedicated corona service to the community.Education is not just a process of giving knowledge for a future job but a lifelong process which creates an understanding of moral and ethical values ​​to guide one's life in a right path.
