About University

North Bengal International University (Bengali: নর্থ বেঙ্গল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ইউনিভার্সিটি) was established on 15 September, 2013 after getting the permission from the Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.

 The Board of Trustees of NBIU comprises the prominent and vastly experienced figures from the education sector of the country. The Trustees are enriched with the professional experiences in both public and private sectors. All the faculties of the university are highly educated. Also, the administration and staffs are highly professional in their respected areas.

Founder: The founder of the University is Prof. Rasheda Khaleque who has a long experience in teaching and managing educational institutions. She is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the North Bengal International University.

Founding VC: The Founding Vice Chancellor of this university is Prof. Dr. Abdul Khaleque who is the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi. He is now serving as an Advisor to the same organization.

Administration: The Vice Chancellor of the University is Prof. Dr. Bidhan Chandra Das who is the former chairman of Zoology Department, University of Rajshahi. Apart from a rich academic career, he is experienced in administrative responsibilities. The Principal objective of establishing the North Bengal International University (NBIU) is to provide quality higher education at an affordable cost to the meritorious students of the Northern part of Bangladesh. In the modern world education is synonymous to development. As Bangladesh has been progressing steadily, in order to keep the pace of development it is essential to expand the number of educated and skilled people in all sphere of knowledge. Only through education we can transfer our huge population into a self reliant and productive force. In the North Bengal there are many students who are incapable of entering into the Public Universities because of the limited number of seats; but they have the right to get higher education. As of today most of the private universities are situated in or around the Capital city. Because of the large expenditure involved in the higher education in the private universities of the Capital, not all the students can avail this opportunity. Considering these circumstances, the Government has given permission to the North Bengal International University to render higher education to the students of the North Bengal.
